It is not an official Republican policy. You will never find a pamphlet stating it. But it must be said. Republicans don't care whether you or your children live or die. Republicans don't care about you.
Jon Stewart interviewed "gun lovin' patriot" State Sen. Nathan Dahm (R-OK). Dahm, as with most Republicans, believes more guns means more safety and any infringement on gun ownership is an attack on the Constitution. But while he believes restricting gun ownership is an infringement on the 2nd Amendment, he does believe we should limit drag queen shows because, despite that being an infringement on the 1st Amendment, we must protect our children (fyi, to our knowledge, no child has ever died from a drag queen show). But protecting our children from gun deaths, the biggest cause of child deaths, is over the line. Or said another way, guns are more important than people.
You are allowed to agree. You are allowed to believe that guns are more important than people. You are allowed to agree that guns are more important than children. If you do agree, just say it (Jon almost hit that angle). Just please stop lying and pretending you care about the Constitution when you ALWAYS care about guns but you only SOMETIMES care about free speech.
State Sen. Nathan Dahm (R-OK) has penned several bills loosening gun restrictions, including the nation’s first anti-red flag law. He thinks these bills protect the Second Amendment – and that they make us safer. We think it's probably one or the other.
